Please visit us at our new site! We had to switch formats because blogger is friendlier with PayPal which is what we need for registration. Please note – this site will not be maintained after January 30th 2011.

The countdown is really on & we hope you are as excited about Saturday as we are!

Sign-in / Registration begins at 9:00am on Saturday March 6th. You cannot enter the hall prior to registration. Once you have registered and recieved your awesome Registration Kit, you can head into the convention room to find a great place to settle in for hours of scrapping! The event is “general seating” – first come, first seated – no reserving spaces, so you might want to arrive a little bit before 9:00am to ensure you get a spot with your best pals.

A complete schedule, including class times, will be provided in your Registration Kits.  You are responsible for knowing your class times, any missed classes will not be refunded. Classes do not overlap with classes and classes do not overlap with meal times or announcements – you won’t miss a thing if you’re attending classes.

The Convention will officially begin at 10:00am with some important announcements that you won’t want to miss.

Many folks have asked about bringing Cricuts, etc.  If you have a Cricut you would like to use – please bring it.  There are plug-ins along the outside walls and at various places in the floor. Please be respectful of other people’s space and do not use a machine that does not belong to you unless you have asked permission.  There will not be any “communal” machines or tools provided.

There will be a free beverage station – coffee, tea, water – throughout the day.  If you would like other snacks between the provided meals, please bring them along. There is also a Shopper’s Drug Mart close by if anyone needs to do a pop run.

Methods of payment for Vendors and Silent Auction - cash, cheque or credit card.  Debit is not offered by any of the vendors.  There is a cash machine at the Shopper’s Drug Mart or the ATB should you require some cash.

Rowan House will be on-site.  Please visit their booth to find out more about this great organization & why we have enjoyed working with them over the last months to prepare for this great day.  Rowan House is what this day is all about! They will also be accepting donations.

There will be a short presentation around lunch time by Chris Keating from Towne Photography that you will not want to miss! He’s an amazing guy with an amazing offer! Just wait until you see what he’s bringing – Shannon & I want them!!!

Contests!!!!

As mentioned previously, bring your loonies and toonies as we have a few games planned – the prizes are amazing! I know you want to play.

Page Layout Contest – $1 per page (2 page layout = $2) to enter. Enter this contest by visiting Headquarters.

Card Contest – $1 per entry. Enter this contest by visiting Headquarters.

Reverse Bingo & Heads or Tails Games – 1 ticket for $2 or 3 tickets for $5. Make sure you have your cash ready – the prizes are fantastic!!

The Sock Monkey will be returning as well! For anyone who is not familiar with the Monkey, you’re in for a treat when you meet her!

All money collected from contests & games will be donated to The Rowan House Emergency Shelter.

There will be a TRASH to TREASURE TABLE for any scrapbooking items that you may want to donate – so go through the piles of stuff you know you’re not using and bring it along :) . Someone might find it very useful and what ever is remaining on the table at the end of the day will be donated to the Rowan House for their children’s programs.

Scrappers will have to pack up to go home at 11pm, but not before the grand prize door prize has been drawn! To win this fantastic prize, you do have to be present! Stay until the end and you might be packing your bags to go somewhere fabulous!

Again, if you have any questions or concerns, please email us at scrapbookinotoks@gmail.com as it is the only place we check regularly. Thank you.

See you Saturday!

Also, we are still looking for sponsors, if you know of someone or a company you think might be willing to donate to our cause, we would love to hear from you (scrapbookinokotoks@gmail.com).

Should you need to contact us, please email us at scrapbookinokotoks@gmail.com, it’s too difficult to check various web places we have for questions or comments, and we don’t want to miss anything you might need an answer to.

Thank you so much!

The countdown is on!!! 18 more sleeps!

Registration is now open. Please click the Registration page.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Well, we are one sleep away from registration. Very exciting!

Let me share with you our not so great news. Unfortunately we have not been able to secure a photographer for our photography class(es). This is something Shannon and I are still working on and dedicated to provide you with as we know many of you would like this class. We will be interviewing photographers next week to ensure they are a great fit for our event. We apologize for not having this for you to sign up with tomorrow, but due to unforeseeable circumstances, the photographer who intended to do our event is longer available. Shannon and I want to ensure that the photographer we choose will not only be a great photographer – but a great teacher. When the position has been secured, we will send out an email to all who have registered to let you know when you can register for the class, we promise a one week lead time to ensure everyone who might be interested will have enough time to get the information.

Now the fun news…you really want to come to this event.

Seriously, you do.

We have secured a most fantastic finale door prize which will remain a mystery…

Okay, here is a hint – you’ll need a passport.

Make sure you’re coming and stay for the last door prize. Shannon and I are really bummed we can’t be included in this draw! We are so excited!

Good luck tomorrow – I hope all who want to party with us on March 6th get a spot! Can’t wait to meet you!

Shannon & I realized last night that we didn’t formally announce where OSC is actually being held. Without further adieu – it will be at the Foothills Centennial Centre – again. :) Sorry for the oversight!

In case anyone wants to google map it, here is the address

Foothills Centennial Centre
#4 – 204 Community Way
Okotoks, AB
T1S 2N3

Since the registration date is fast approaching, we have received a few questions. I thought I would address them here.

  1. The only way to register is online.
  2. At 11:00 am Saturday January 23rd, a link on the Registration page will become active.
  3. There has been interest in having a photography class offered. I have been working like crazy this week to get this position filled, unfortunately the folks who have been contacted are checking their schedules, etc., and have not confirmed yet. Rest assured, there will be a photography class – and I am hoping to announce who it is today or tomorrow – as long as it’s before Saturday! :)

Please note that when you click the registration link on Saturday, a new window will pop up with a registration form linked to PayPal – do not be alarmed. We decided to not have registration on this blog to ensure your transactions are safe & secure.

We hope you are as excited about this event as we are – there’s loads of surprises & great stuff in store that we’ve been working on with our fabulous team of volunteers! It’s going to be a great day!!

Hello everyone!

Shannon and I spent time together over the holidays to come up with ideas and plans for the festivities on March 6th. There will be surprises, food, draws and best of all – time to scrapbook with your best friends. Our team has been hard at work over the last while and we can’t wait to share the details with you!

The next volunteer meeting is on Saturday (January 9th) at 1:00pm. If you would like to join our amazing troop of women – we would love to have you. Just drop us a line at scrapbookinokotoks@gmail.com to let us know you’re coming & we will give you the address. Sherrie Botten, the Executive Director of Rowan House, will be attending this meeting to share with us what this event means to her organization. She is a wonderful lady and we look forward to hearing the exciting things on the horizon for Rowan House.

We have chosen a date. Registration!!! January 23rd at 11:00 am!

I am working on getting Paypal hooked up here so soon you will soon see a link to register. It’s not here yet - I wanted to get the date out to you so you can bookmark the registration date on your calendars.

In case you don’t know, we are also on Facebook. Click here to find us. You can also add the Okotoks Scrapbook Convention to your calendar by “attending” our Facebook event. This is a way to promote the Convention, add it to your calendar and give you the opportunity to invite your friends who may not be Facebook fans of the Okotoks Scrapbook Convention. Please note, “attending” the Facebook event does not mean you can bypass registration – you still have to register on January 23rd on this website.

Check back regularly as I will be updating this site in the next little while with vendor and class information!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and refreshing start to 2010.

Annalisa
